USA: Guest Article: Centennial of the Communist Party of China (Tribune of the people)

Editors’ Note: Tribune has received a guest submission from a Chinese reader which commemorates the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which is marked on July 1. As the reader points out, the current organization claiming this title and leading the social-imperialist state of China does not represent the legacy of the CPC. This fact cannot be emphasized enough.

We share the reader’s message sent to us along with the article the comrade has written, which provides a brief synopsis of the glorious history of the Party, whose legacy belongs to the international proletariat. As Chairman Mao said in a letter to his wife, fellow revolutionary Chiang Ching, if the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution is reversed and the capitalists once again take power, then revolutionaries would have to return to waging guerrilla warfare.

Hello comrades in the United States,

I am a Maoist from China, and I have been following you since last year. Some articles on your website are widely circulated among some Maoist groups in China.

This year is the 100th anniversary of the birth of a former socialist party, the Communist Party of China. I wrote a commemorative article in my own, hoping to spread it among Marxist-Leninist-Maoists all over the world through you:

July 1, 2021, this is a day to commemorate the centennial birthday of the Communist Party of China, a political party that has influenced the process of the socialist movement around the world. After the May Fourth Movement in 1919, the idea of communism began to take root in China, and Marxism became the trend of progressive youth in China at that time. The convening of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 1921 marked the birth of this party. The vanguard of the Chinese proletariat led the Chinese proletariat through thorns and smashed its chains and finally liberated themselves.

The Chinese Communist Party has led many labor movements in China, the strikes of Longhai Railway workers, the strikes of Jinghan Railway workers, the Canton-Hong Kong strike, and the Anyuan Road and Mine strikes. The Chinese Communists have always been at the forefront of the labor movement, defending the interests of Chinese workers.

The Communist Party of China was not only at the forefront of the Chinese labor movement, but also immediately formed the anti-Japanese national united front to resist foreign aggression. On September 18, 1931, Northeast China fell, and the Communist Party of China quickly established the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army to carry out guerrilla operations. In 1937, the full-scale war of resistance broke out; “Rise up, people who do not want to be slaves, the Chinese nation has reached the most dangerous time, everyone is forced to give out the last roar.” This is the beginning of the national anthem of the People’s Republic of China, and there is something behind this. It is the history of the Chinese Communist Party leading the Chinese people to fully resist Japanese aggression.

In 1945, the Japanese aggression ended and China achieved a short-term peace, but Chiang Kai-shek broke the hard-won peace and launched a civil war. Chiang Kai-shek led the Kuomintang to retreat to Taiwan, and the People’s Republic of China was proclaimed in Beijing on October 1, 1949. However, the US imperialists did not want to see the establishment of a socialist China, so they formed a “United Nations Army” to join the Korean War. The final result was obvious. The Chinese Volunteer Army and the Korean soldiers and civilians won victory. [this paragraph was shortened for clarity – Ed.]

Then, the Chinese people finally really stood up. Under the leadership of Chairman Mao and the Communist Party of China, China’s socialist construction proceeded in full swing. However, some revisionists did not want China to become a socialist country, so they undertook secret sabotage. Some people, headed by Liu Shaoqi and Deng Xiaoping, deliberately misinterpreted Mao Zedong‘s construction policy and undermined China’s socialist construction.

In 1966, the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution (GPCR) began. The purpose of this revolution was to wipe out revisionists within the Communist Party of China. Not only that, but the GPCR has also affected the socialist movement around the world. In Japan, students took to the streets. Holding high the banner of socialism in Peru, Chairman Gonzalo proposed Maoism through the synthesis of Chairman Mao‘s thoughts and theories; in India, the Naxalbari uprising ignited the spark, and the Communist Party of India (Maoist) would become the political force of India to begin a protracted people’s war; in Turkey, Ibrahim Kaypakkaya formed TKP/ML to start a revolutionary struggle.

But the GPCR still failed. Deng Xiaoping ultimately seized power, and China took the road of revisionism and imperialism. However, the spirit of the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese Revolution has not gone away, and it still inspires the current global Marxist-Leninist-Maoist movement. In India, in Turkey, in Peru, and in the Philippines, the Marxist-Leninist-Maoist people‘s armed forces are still continuing the protracted People’s Wars; other Marxist-Leninist-Maoist parties and organizations are also preparing to participate in their own People‘s Wars. Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, protracted people’s war, this is the legacy of the Communist Party of China before it became revisionist, and it should now be inherited by Marxism-Leninism-Maoists worldwide.

Long live Marxism-Leninism-Maoism!

Long live the centenary birthday of the Communist Party of China!

All Maoists in China unite and wage the most resolute struggle against Chinese revisionism!

Maoists from all over the world unite and join in the struggle against imperialism and revisionism!
