Actions in Europe Against India's ‘Kagaar Operation’

The reactionary Indian state's ‘Kagaar Operation’ against India's indigenous peoples and the Communist Party of India (Maoist) was protested in Vienna and Brussels, Europe.

Operation Kagaar’ Protested in Vienna

The fascist Narendra Modi government, together with imperialist powers, has been conducting operations under various names since 2009, particularly in the states of India where the Adivasi peoples live. Thousands of people have been killed in these attacks, and tens of thousands have been displaced from their homes. While people are being killed to hand over valuable minerals to mining companies, those who survive are being forcibly expelled from the lands they have lived on for centuries.

Since January 2024, under the name of the ‘Kagaar Operation,’ the Modi government has been propagating that it will eliminate the Communist Party of India (Maoist) by 31 March 2026, with tens of thousands of paramilitary forces and advanced technical equipment, and continues its brutal attacks.

To condemn these attacks and expose them to the Austrian public, an event was held in front of the Indian Embassy in Vienna by organisations including ADİF and ATİK. The event, held on 27 January 2026, began at 5 p.m. with the screening of footage revealing the scale of the brutality of the operations.

The action, held in Karlsplatz, one of Vienna's busiest areas, featured a jointly prepared speech read in German and English, followed by speeches on behalf of the organisations.

In the speech delivered on behalf of ADİF–ATİK, the operations carried out by the Indian state were exposed and condemned, and the speech concluded with the following call:

As ATİK – European Confederation of Turkish Workers, we strongly condemn the operations carried out by the fascist Modi government in collaboration with imperialists and declare our solidarity with the struggling peoples of India. We call on all democratic forces in Europe to take a clear stand against these attacks. Long live the Indian people's legitimate resistance against fascism! Long live international solidarity!"

The event concluded with slogans denouncing the atrocities of the Kagaar Operation and strengthening solidarity with the struggling peoples.

Kagaar Operation Protested in Brussels

The attacks carried out by the fascist Modi regime in India against the Communist Party of India (Maoist) for two years under the name ‘Kagaar Operation’ were protested in front of the European Parliament in Brussels.

During the action, held in response to discussions on India at the EU Parliament's Human Rights Committee on 26–27 January, the fascist Modi regime, which continues the Kagaar Operation, and the EU Parliament, which continues to support these attacks, were exposed.

It was stated that since January 2024, the Indian state has been conducting operations in many states with an army and paramilitary forces of 60,000 personnel; that hundreds of members of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) and indigenous people living in the states have been killed in these attacks, and that large-scale arrests have been carried out. It was emphasised that India is in clear violation of international treaties and fundamental human rights.
